BUDONI

A pleasant and hospitable seaside resort, it extends along the coast for 18 km.. Itis surrounded by a crown of hills, which bear the mark of history, such as the important neolithic Domus de Jana (4000) in Solità; and the remains of nuraghic monuments. The territory is characterized by little salt-water ponds, which host a rich aquatic fauna, including small colonies of pink flamingoes. A thick pine-wood constitutes a demarcation line between the green hills and the sea that breaks on the rocks. The well-equipped Oltiolu port , which provides 400 boat dockings, may be considered a starting point for discovering isolated inlets and gorgeous underwater sites. Within two or three hours you can visit particular sites of historic interest, such as Nuraghe Su Entosu, Nuraghe Conca and Bentu, and Domus De Jana Agliola, in the territory of Solità. Another itinerary will take you to S.Giovanni Battista Church in the town center and to Sant’Anna Church in Berruiles. The itinerary to Stazzi Di San Pietro is not to be missed, there you can walk among its typical streets and old houses. Along the last stretch of the road, the little San Pietro Del Bosco church is worth a visit, with its ancient foundations dated back to the14th century. Among the festivals of the village, in May S.Pietro’s day (the patron saint) offers the chance to taste a traditional meal; in June the locals celebrate San Giovanni Battista with the typical origliette, fried pastries served with honey. On the last day of August The Patron Saint is celebrated once more with three days of processions and other celebrations. The whole summer is characterized by festivals, the Ferragosto Budonese being its apex.
