Among the most important little towns of the coast as well as Ogliastra’s biggest and most important centres, Tortolì includes in its municipality the nearby Arbatrax. Equipped with an airport which has favoured tourism in the area, the town offers a visit to S.Andrea ex-cathedral and in the northern outskirt, to the Palazzo Vescovile. Going South The state road runs through a hilly landscape reaching two tall prehistorical menhirs near which you can find also domus de janas and a tomba dei Giganti. North of the town there is Tortolì pond, the second largest lake onthe sardinian eastern coast. Set in rich vegetation it representsan imprtant stop over for migratine birds.
