At 10 km from Arzachena, on the western side of the Gulf, this old little town of fishermen attracts tourists. Until 1800 it was a landing harbour for boats heading to the other ports and to LA MADDALENA. Today CANNIGIONE has a well-equipped harbour, a beautiful promenade on the sea front and many facilities, which have increased tourism in the last few decades. Two main streets, Lungomare Andrea Doria and Via Nazionale, crowed by typical crafts-shops, bazaars, cross the centre. Meeting places, restaurants, services. Not far from the centre, a beautiful little sand beach well protected from the winds reflects itself in the crystal-clear water. Going on along the narrow coastal road toward Palau you come to the tourist village of La Conia which, from the homonymous beach, stretches up to the top of the hill at its shoulders. Further away you meet TANCA MANNA beach at about 8 km followed by BARCA BRUCIAT, an incomparable natural pool. ISULEDDA with a well-equipped camping site, Ulticeddu and Iaciola, easily reached through short paths, and finally Golfo delle Saline under the hills of CAPO D’ORSO. Stagni di Saloni, a vast wet area inhabited by hundreds of seabirds like the Pollo Sultano, the Heron and egret for lovers of bird watching, occupies the southern port of the Gulf.
